Happy Monday and welcome to a new edition of The Monitor , WIRED's roundup of all things pop culture. What's in store today? First things first: The official trailer for Ford v Ferrari—the story of the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans in France—is out, and, frankly, it's a helluva good time. Also, another production might be pulling out of Georgia over the state's anti-abortion law. Oh, and Godzilla: King of the Monsters fell flat at the box office. Let's dig in.
Watch This Ford v Ferrari Trailer Right Now
Do you like things that go vroom? You're in luck. The first trailer for Ford v Ferrari is here to satiate your needs. The film stars Matt Damon as Carroll Shelby, as he tries to design a car for Ford that will beat Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966. To help secure a win, he brings along British-born Kevin Miles (Christian Bale) to race the car. Looks like fun! But really, what movie doesn't look fun when its trailer is set to “Gimme Shelter”? Ford v Ferrari hits theaters November 15.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters Did Not Roar at the Box Office
Looks as though not everyone wanted a heaping helping of kaiju this past weekend. Godzilla: King of the Monsters landed fairly flatly over the past three days, bringing in just $49 million at the domestic box office. (For context, 2014's Godzilla made $93 million.) The monster fared much better overseas, nabbing $130 million internationally.
The Walking Dead May Leave Georgia Over ‘Heartbeat’ Abortion Law
The AMC network is joining the growing list of Hollywood outfits that are considering leaving Georgia if and when the state enacts its new "heartbeat" abortion bill. That, of course, means that The Walking Dead, which has filmed all nine of its seasons in the state, would be pulling out. "If this highly restrictive legislation goes into effect, we will reevaluate our activity in Georgia," AMC said in a statement to Forbes. "This is likely to be a long and complicated fight and we are watching it all very closely."
